Job Title: Adjunct Instructor – English for Academic Purposes
Department: College Preparatory Program
Employment Type: Part-Time, Adjunct
Location: Kapolei, Hawaiʻi (on-campus teaching required)

About Hawaii Tokai International College:
Hawaii Tokai International College (HTIC) is a junior college accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC). Through customized short-term programs, HTIC’s International Programs Department offers intensive English and cultural learning experiences for students of various ages and backgrounds.

HTIC seeks qualified instructors to teach academic English to speakers of other languages in its College Preparatory Program. Adjunct appointments are made on a per-course, per-term basis (10-week term). Instruction schedules typically range from 1 hour to 3.5 hours per day, 4 days a week.

Responsibilities
• Teach assigned College Preparatory courses focusing on building students’ academic reading, writing, listening, speaking, and grammar skills using effective, student-centered methods.
• Prepare and deliver course materials aligned with institutional learning outcomes.
• Assess and report student performance accurately and on time.
• Provide academic support to students through office hours and individual guidance.
• Contribute to a respectful, inclusive classroom environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure program quality.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Education, or related field.
• 3+ years of academic ESL teaching experience.
• Strong English communication skills (oral and written).
• Knowledge of ESL teaching methods.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Education, or related field.
• Experience teaching international students of different ages and backgrounds.
• Overseas or cross-cultural teaching/living experience.
• Familiarity with current TESOL trends and resources.

Compensation & Details
• Pay Rate: $38 per hour (if received a Bachelor's Degree)
• Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Time varies by course assignments. Courses begin at 8:40 AM and end at 3:40 PM.
• Travel Assistance: Not provided.
