Job Description
Starting Wage Range: $18.86/hr. - $24.07/hr.
Provides assistance in all areas of the CTGR K12 Enrichment Program. Serves as a lead for various projects as needed, organizing activities and events for Native American students and their families.
Essential Functions:
- Assists or leads with scheduling and supervising on site activities or local field trips.
- Works with other staff to develop program activities as needed.
- Assists in maintaining program inventory and acquires materials as necessary.
- Drives 12 passenger vans with students and staff as needed.
- Reports concerns and incidents to supervisory staff.
- Provides frequent feedback and guidance using positive communication skills with all students.
- Assists in keeping youth education facilities and tribal vehicles clean.
- Follows program’s schedule and plans while providing group and individual assistance to students and staff.
- Organizes and implements youth day or overnight activities in a lead or assistant role.
- Provides information to the public and/or tribal members via telephone, email, or in person regarding Education Division programs.
- Participates in Education Division events and assists staff members in planning for events.
- Assists in preparation and clean-up of snack and supplies from activities.
- Supervises and monitors children at all times.
- Provides a safe environment for participants.
- Handles discipline problems promptly and according to policy.
- Establishes a process to report cases of suspected child abuse in a timely manner.
- Collaborates with tribal and community programs to conduct after-school or no-school day activities.
- Informs supervisor of program needs, problem areas, and specialized student needs.
- Serves as a role model for academic achievement and career potentials for tribal members.
- Completes Incident and Accident reports as needed to supervisor.
- Maintains personal project files.
- Requires occasional overnight, evening, and weekend program activity work.
- Attends weekly CTGR meetings or trainings when requested.
- Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education, Experience, and Licenses:
- Must be currently enrolled in college and requiring completion of at least one semester or term or 12 credits of college with credits in education, public administration, human services.
Driving Requirements:
- This position may require driving.
Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications:
- First Aid/CPR certification required or must obtain within 60 days of hire.
- Must have good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated knowledge and use of Microsoft Word.
- Must have the ability to relate well with children at various age levels.
- Must have the ability to communicate well with parents.
- Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity of Native American cultures.
- Prefer familiarity with Grand Ronde Tribal culture.
- Must be able to occasionally work overnight, evening, and weekend for program activity work.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture required
Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication.
- Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
- Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally.
- Occasionally requires lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions.
- Supports a safe work environment by performing all duties in accordance with Tribal safety policies and procedures, and Emergency Management Plan.
- Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
- May be called upon to serve as a Disaster Reservist during emergencies, or when the Tribal Emergency Operations Center is opened.
- Local travel is required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.
