Job Category: FinanceThe Lee Financial Collector position is responsible for contacting delinquent debtors for payment. Usually, this is done over the phone or by mail. If that person is no longer at that address or phone number, they may try to track them down using the web, post office or other means. Once contacted, Collectors remind people of their overdue bills and do their best to negotiate payment. This may mean negotiating a payment plan, or in extreme situations, legal action. Debt collectors keep track of the debtors to make sure that they are repaying what is owed.

Job Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
- Effectively calling customers daily regarding resolution of delinquency and educating customers regarding their contractual terms and obligations.
- Verifying customer personal contact information and accurately documenting customer conversations onto collection system.
- Researching account payment histories, collateral, and misapplied payments.
- Work independently and maintain focus through self-motivation.
- Accurately quoting account payoffs and escalating customer calls when necessary.
- Demonstrate consistency in reaching and/or exceeding monthly goals and company objectives.
- Demonstrate understanding of contracts and lease / loan terms and legal procedures.
- Contacting third party contractors for collection of payment and repossession of collateral.
- Assists with booking of finance contracts and collection of insurance.
- Assists with answering phone lines.

QualificationsREQUIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Knowledge of Statutory accounting principles.
- Strong analytical and accounting skills.
- Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Excel and Outlook or similar programs.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages for both general ledger and statutory accounting
- Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment. Be available to work beyond the normal 40 hour week.
- Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors of Science in Accounting or equivalent from an accredited university preferred. An equivalent combination of experience and education can substitute for a degree
