About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi

As a Collections Strategy Lead, you will be responsible for the proactive management of collections strategies to improve the effectiveness of collections activity and optimise performance across the debt portfolio. You will identify trends, emerging risks, and opportunities, using data-led insights to drive strategy improvements and provide options and recommendations to adjust collection strategies to mitigate these risks.

This is a strategic role and is part of the Collections & Recoveries Leadership Team. You'll be expected to look beyond current approaches, challenge conventional thinking, and identify opportunities to improve collections outcomes, operational effectiveness, and customer experience.

The midpoint of the salary band for this role is $119,161, appointment within the band will be based on experience. ACC offers a comprehensive benefits package which at present includes an advantageous superannuation scheme ( 9% contribution) with features like no mandatory employee contribution, optional life and income protection insurance.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop, implement and review debt management strategy, collection strategies, and supporting policies
  • Build and maintain risk-based segmentation, triage and prioritisation approaches to maximise recoveries and minimise potential losses
  • Monitor portfolio performance, delinquency trends and operational metrics, providing analysis, forecasts and recommendations to inform decision-making
  • Analyse, measure and recommend the most appropriate treatment strategies for collections and recoveries activity across the portfolio
  • Forecast delinquency volumes and values across customer segments, considering operational capacity, financial impacts and recovery outcomes
  • Advise the Collections & Recoveries Manager and Team Leaders on resourcing requirements, workforce planning and collector effectiveness to support delivery of delinquency strategies
  • Provide forecasts and reporting to third-party providers to support resource planning, recovery optimisation and performance management
  • Manage third-party debt collection agency relationships and performance against agreed KPIs
  • Partner with the Collections & Recoveries Leadership Team to achieve operational outcomes and contribute a collections perspective to levy changes, policy development and business initiatives
