If this aligns with your values and you want to join a leader in the banking industry, we are hiring for a Collections Associate that will make effective and productive calls to collect on delinquent accounts and supports the overall goals of the Collections Department.
MAJOR DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Initiates outbound calls and receives inbound calls related to late-stage delinquent cardholder accounts.
• Adheres to call monitoring guidelines as they pertain to FDCPA and TIB compliance guidelines.
• Communicates with banks, debt counselors, and other parties, as required, on delinquent cardholder accounts.
• Clearly annotates account records to note details of any telephone contacts or other key information that will assist in future collection efforts.
• Utilizes extensive skip tracing skills and tools such as probative questioning, Accurint, and Credit Bureau, to locate delinquent cardholders for collection purposes.
• Reviews and processes incoming correspondence pertaining to assigned accounts.
• Enhances collection efforts by encouraging the use of payment by phone and processing approved payments.
• Complies with all banking laws and regulations, and maintains the confidentiality of bank and customer information.
REQUIREMENTS/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including two evenings per week and two half-day Saturdays per month, with occasional overtime as needed
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Individual should possess good interpersonal skills and be able to work within and foster a team environment
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and across all levels
• Software: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook); FDR
Preferred
• 3-5 years collection experience in a credit card or retail environment
• 2-4 years First Data Resources (FDR) experience
• Bi-lingual language skills (English and Spanish)
• Some college
