Job Description

OF POSITION:

  • The Collections Supervisor supervises the day to day process and operations involved with collections on overdue/delinquent accounts. They ensure that production targets are achieved.

SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Director of Business Office

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Monitors and manages assigned area's AR to ensure that attention is properly given to High dollar and Aged accounts.
  • Documents for reference all communications regarding important topics, employee conversations, payer communications etc.
  • Monitors guidelines to ensure compliance with Federal and State Regulations.
  • Communicates effectively and is responsible for all Vendors affiliated with assigned team.
  • Has in depth understanding of all programs and processes for assigned area.
  • Provides proper Priority review and response to any request received for assistance.
  • Coordinates communication between the business office and other hospital departments and or outside companies such as insurance carriers in order to maximize effectiveness of team assignment.
  • Identifies and evaluates areas of risk by not only corrected the problem but identifying the source for process updates or providing additional training.
  • Evaluates to properly escalate concerns and provide communication to Manager and Director.
  • Coordinates assigned team members schedules and time ensure proper documentation is approved and recorded for reference.
  • Provides assistance and support to all members of the leadership team and is available to assist any employee even if not part of assigned team.
  • Handles difficult account reviews in order to locate a solution and resolve the problem.
  • Consistently evaluates assigned teams processes to ensure that the team is maximizing collection potential and prioritizing task appropriately.
  • Performs Quality Reviews consistently for assigned team members & communicates the findings with those team members.
  • Provides support for all assigned team members through training and assistance with questions.
  • Properly utilizes productivity tracking mechanisms.
  • Works at or above the weekly set productivity standard and completes tasks in a timely manner.
  • Appropriately prioritizes work queue in order to work highest priority first based on assigned subjects.
  • Documents all information in the System following the Clear Concise Consistent method.
  • Consistently monitors assignment to ensure that all steps necessary to assist the Team with achieving its goals have been taken.
  • Writes clearly and informatively.
  • Edits work for spelling and grammar.
  • Varies writing style to meet needs.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years experience in healthcare or related field
  • Alternatively, at least 6 years or equivalent work in healthcare related field
  • Adequate keyboarding skills( 40 words per minute typing rate); Basic computer skills.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, including ability to discuss medical issues.
  • Negotiation skills including assertiveness and being proactive.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and issues at a time.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Work requires light duty lifting.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
