Join our dynamic Markets Operations team and play a key role in managing collateral and margin processes across diverse financial products. Bring your expertise to a collaborative environment focused on operational excellence, risk management, and client service. Unlock your potential by contributing to critical functions that support global trading activities and regulatory compliance.

As a Collateral Client Services Associate within Markets Operations, you will support a broad range of products including Derivatives, Forex, TBA, OTC Cleared, Prime Brokerage, Repos, and Loans. You will be responsible for generating and distributing margin calls, reconciling portfolios, managing disputes, and providing regulatory reporting. You will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and risk mitigation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the margin call lifecycle, including issuing, receiving, and monitoring calls across OTC derivatives, loans, and principal trades facing CCPs/clearing houses.
  • Provide client service and relationship management, handling issues end-to-end with timely follow-ups involving external clients and internal front office/credit risk teams.
  • Investigate disputes and fails, propose resolutions, and escalate with well-structured evidence to senior management and credit risk.
  • Perform reconciliation and control activities, ensuring accurate booking of collateral movements, breaks management, and daily control checks.
  • Maintain a strong risk mindset, understanding operational risk, controls, audit readiness, and escalation protocols.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally in English and Japanese, delivering concise written updates and verbal communication under pressure.
  • Analyze collateral agreements, exposure calculations, and reconciliation breaks to support problem-solving and prioritization.
  • Utilize operational platforms and Excel skills to manage data from multiple sources within strict cut-offs and SLAs.
  • Lead client discussions, negotiate and resolve disputes, draft clear emails and escalation documents, and engage confidently with Japan-based stakeholders.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Relevant experience in collateral management, margin operations, middle office, or client services within a bank, broker-dealer, custodian, or clearing environment (associate-level scope; several years of directly relevant experience).

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Exposure to OTC derivatives and/or secured lending operations, with experience interacting with credit risk teams.
  • Prior experience supporting Japan-market clients, understanding time zones, market practices, and communication styles.
  • Familiarity with collateral documentation concepts (CSA, GMRA, GMSLA) and effective partnership with Documentation/Legal teams.
  • Proven track record of process improvement, including control enhancements, SOP uplift, and automation/standardization initiatives.
