Salary Range: $25.00 - $30.00 Hourly

Job Title: Piano Accompanist for MS and HS choirs
Level: Experienced
Reports To: Performing Arts Director
Hourly

: $25-30 an hour, based on experience
FTE: 13-15 hours a week, more during concert season (1-6 hours a day, Start time 9:00-2:30 but varies each day)
General Description:
In partnership with the middle school and high school choir director, the accompanist will work closely to help students achieve their best choral experience through character development and musicality. They will assist with warm-ups, rehearsal parts, and accompaniments of all choral pieces. The role of a piano accompanist is multifaceted, requiring a blend of musical talent and interpersonal skills. Here are the key responsibilities and qualifications for a piano accompanist:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Disciple students in a Christ-centered environment
- Providing Musical Support: Accompanists play the piano to support other performers, ensuring a balanced and harmonious performance.
- Rehearsing and Preparing: They practice with the performers to refine their music, learning the score, understanding dynamics, and working on tempo, phrasing, and expression.
- Sight-Reading and Improvising: Accompanists are skilled at reading music they've never seen before and can improvise or add small musical touches to enhance the performance.
- Collaborating and Communicating: They work closely with musicians, conductors, and singers, following cues and adjusting to changes in tempo or dynamics.
- Adapting to Different Contexts: Accompanists work in various settings, including concerts, rehearsals, auditions, or studios, and need to be flexible and comfortable in different environments.
- Professionalism and Etiquette: Being punctual, prepared, and respectful is essential. Accompanists must be reliable and focused on supporting the main performers.
- Ensures that students are supervised at all times
- Performs duties as directed by supervisors and administrators
- Attends all middle school and high school performances (and elementary if needed and available).
- School Trips-May be asked to accompany/chaperone school trips and festivals each year.
- Works collaboratively with the performing arts team
- Works effectively with students, staff, parents, administrators, and community members in a professional manner
