Job Description

Function as the senior cooler supervisor to distribute the highest quality finished dairy products for delivery while maintaining product quality, machine integrity, safety, employee engagement, communications, and Anderson Erickson Dairy standards.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The following are fundamental duties that an individual who holds the position must perform. This is not an exhaustive list. Other duties, in addition to essential job functions, will be assigned at the discretion of the Cooler Director.

  1. Oversee daily activities and department resources to ensure accurate and on-time deliveries with coordinated product flow throughout Anderson Erickson Dairy.
  2. Enable and inspire cooler supervisors to drive company programs to create and promote an environment where employees are involved, empowered, and committed to the success of Anderson Erickson Dairy cooler operations.
  3. Manage and monitor all cooler employees and all other operational programs such as sanitation/cleaning schedules, 5S, inspection preparedness and protocol, product quarantine and communication, load-out accuracy and improvement, shift reporting and communications, maintenance issues management, and communication.
  4. Monitor, report and manage department labor through efficient use, keeping the hours within the goals set by AE Dairy.
  5. Function as lead department communicator for related shift goals, product flow issues, and delays as well as intra-department focus and goals.
  6. Manage and improve department performance through a coordinated supervisory team with a clear focus, purpose, and frequent communications.
  7. Coordinate and oversee employee training to achieve required results with regard to safety, quality, productivity, engagement, and attendance.
  8. Resolve employee issues, maintenance items, product quality, and other issues in a timely manner.
  9. Gain strong partnerships with Distribution, Sales, and Plant leaders to facilitate product flow and intra-departmental coordinated efforts.
  10. Communicate with all satellite operations (i.e. AE/KC) on the following: load sets, trailer returns, special orders, product additions, and shortages, issues affecting arrival or departure schedules, and load-out accuracy issues.
  11. Monitor and communicate product load-out irregularities/issues with plant and distribution leaders including delays and inventory shortages.
  12. Lead and manage efforts to execute product excellence and quarantine protocol, ensuring customers receive the highest quality products.
  13. Monitor equipment for maintenance issues by eliminating downtime; coordinating timely repairs with the maintenance department, and minimizing repeat issues.
  14. Achieve the highest level of inspection scores/results while limiting and eliminating debits in state inspections, federal inspections, Safe Quality Foods (SQF), and other third-party inspections.
  15. Assist with department hiring and discipline/terminations as required.
  16. Efficiently and effectively lead and direct the supervisor team to achieve department goals while following and understanding the language and intent of the union contract as well as company policies and procedures.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize job duties and meet deadlines.
  2. Working knowledge of personal computer systems. (Microsoft Office and AS400).
  3. Problem-solving experience using process improvement techniques and policy compliance.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  5. Commitment to quality workmanship, cleanliness of products facility, and employee well-being.
  6. Strong verbal communication and ability to write clearly without grammatical errors
  7. Labor relations experience (Union).
  8. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, and the ability to delegate responsibilities.
  9. Ability to perform simple mathematical computations.
  10. Ability to be persuasive and motivate others.
  11. Ability to resolve people-related problems and be courteous in difficult situations.
  12. Ability to tolerate long hours in a standing position.
  13. Able to work in the refrigerated work area.
  14. Ability to speak, hear, and see, and to transport self within the building.
  15. Able to use equipment normal to job junctions, including computers. (Forklift and handheld computer).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in transportation, business, and equivalent work experience a plus.
  2. 3-5 years of previous supervisory experience within a warehouse environment is preferred.
  3. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of supervisor leadership skills within a Union environment.
  4. Class A CDL a plus, but not required.

PREREQUISITES

  1. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical, drug screen, physical aptitude test, and background check of acceptance of a conditional employment offer.
  2. As multiple shifts are utilized, some flexibility in your schedule is required.
