About this position: Coffee Shop Manager in Nome, AK

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Oversee the daily operations of the establishment, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
· Interview and hire new employees.
· Manage and train baristas.
· Maintain a clean and organized shop environment.
· Manage and create weekly schedules - balancing time off requests and availabilities.
· Place orders through various vendors to maintain inventory levels.
· Manage a team that completes all stocking, production, and additional tasks to ensure product quality, production planning, accuracy, and date sensitive rotation, as well as ensure all spoiled/damaged products are handled per established guidelines.
· Manage changes and additions to point of sale system.
· Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests in a professional and timely manner.
· Create, update, and maintain Drink Menu.
· Plan Marketing events and work with community.
· Assure that all safety and food safety guidelines and requirements are always followed and maintained
throughout the entire shop.
· Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
· Collaborate with the team to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
· Able to jump into Barista role as needed based on staffing needs.
· Daily cash reconciliation to include deposits
· Approval of time from Baristas
· Working with the Accounting Team for profit/loss of business.
· Perform additional tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the establishment.
Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications
· Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
· Level of Experience Requirements: 2-3 years retail, customer service, and management experience.
· Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
· Food Managers Certification or ability to obtain certification (Required).
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
· Hands-on experience with professional coffee machines (understanding general maintenance & upkeep).
· Knowledge of organizational procedures and workflows – understanding how work moves through a company.
· Basic knowledge of relevant technologies or tools – e.g., Microsoft 365, communication platforms, or industry‑standard software.
· Knowledge of customer service practices – principles of providing quality service and managing inquiries professionally.

The job is performed in a coffee shop setting with exposure to hot liquids and requires extensive use of coffee and espresso machinery. Exposure to hot water and cleaning chemicals or solvents. Occasional use of computer, keyboard, mouse, and telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern coffee shop setting. Occasional travel may be required.

Additional Qualifying Factors
