Job Description

YMCA Heart of England is looking for a Coffee Shop Assistant to join the team based in Erdington, Birmingham The successful candidate will join us on a bank contract In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £12.24 per hour, will increase in line with minimum wage on 1st April 2026.

YMCA Heart of England is a Christian charity providing a range of life-changing services for the local community. With a turnover of over £4m, we house over 300 young people, most of whom previously were homeless, and support them to get their lives back on track. We also care for pre-school children in our nursery and run various social enterprises to create employment and generate income for our charitable work.

With over 100 Staff and volunteers working for us and thousands of people using our many premises every year, we are an organisation committed to delivering the best possible service to our customers in line with our ethos and values.

About the Coffee Shop Assistant role

We’re looking for a friendly, reliable Coffee Shop Assistant to join our team at Eden Coffee Shop.

You’ll be part of a small team helping to create a welcoming, relaxed space for everyone who visits. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Making and serving high quality food and drinks
  • Keeping the coffee shop clean and well-presented
  • Supporting with stock checks, deliveries and basic admin
  • Confident and good with people
  • Reliable, organised and able to work without constant supervision
