GEARS (Group Equipment Automation Robotic Systems) is the organization in EssilorLuxottica integrating the group expertise in industrial equipment R&D, engineering and manufacturing.

Inside this framework, we are looking for a senior mechanical design engineer, who will be responsible of designing new equipment and automation solutions inside the Thailand COE Automation team. The role is based in our automation factory in Ladkrabang, Bangkok.

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 10 automation engineers and technical specialists.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of automation equipment development, including R&D, design, assembly, installation, testing, and validation.
  • Define and execute local automation strategies aligned with the Global COE Automation roadmap.
  • Drive engineering excellence by deploying and enforcing standardized engineering methodologies and best practices.
  • Ensure equipment compliance with quality, safety, reliability, and performance standards.
  • Promote innovation by identifying, evaluating, and integrating new technologies and automation solutions.
  • Manage department budgets, resource planning, and project prioritization to achieve business objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with the GEARS PMO, manufacturing operations, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment efficiency, productivity, and operational performance.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 6–8 years of experience in automation engineering, machine design, equipment development, or industrial automation.
  • Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams.
  • Strong technical expertise in both hardware and software aspects of automation equipment and machine development.
  • Demonstrated experience in complex engineering projects from concept through implementation.
  • Strong project management and cross-functional coordination capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in English for business and technical communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within a multinational manufacturing or industrial equipment environment.
  • Exposure to advanced automation technologies, robotics, Industry 4.0, or smart manufacturing solutions.
  • Experience working in global or regional engineering organizations.
