Job Description

This is a full time, 1.0 FTE position. While there is some scheduling flexibility, there are times that require availability between the hours of 8am to 4:30pm CST, Monday – Friday. This will be discussed in the interview process. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. This position is remote.

We are seeking a Coding and Revenue Integrity Education Specialist to:

Understand and educate to all levels of the organization on clinical documentation and medical coding that impact revenue.

Collaborate and develop/provide training/resource materials for technical & system applications utilized by Coding and CDI staff to gain efficiency.

Effectively use coding and clinical documentation knowledge management, the electronic medical record functionality and technology to streamline and support staff in their coding, clinical documentation and revenue protection.

Education

Associate's Degree in health information technology, health information management, or related healthcare field. Two (2) years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree in addition to the experience below required.

Bachelor's Degree in health information technology, health information management, or related healthcare field preferred.

Work Experience

2 years of progressively responsible coding or CDI experience required.

Experience with Coding & CDI quality improvement projects preferred.

Experience in training, organizational development activities, or project management principles preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

At least one (1) of the following certifications is required: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist Physician-Based (CCS-P), Registered Health Information Admin (RHIA), Registered Health Info Tech (RHIT), Certified Clin Doc Spec (CCDS), Certified Doc Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) required.
