The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for a Code Enforcement Administrator in our Solid Waste Division of Public Services Department t o perform field inspections of curbside issues to ensure compliance applicable solid waste ordinances, and regulations. Perform Solid Waste public education, reference to Removing and Preventing Illegal Dumping (RAPID). Review and issue notices, fines and citations to non-complying residential property owners; and to perform various related technical duties to include illegal dumping. Collect and display data for route optimization of Solid Waste collections.

Examples of duties

  1. Coordinates with City departments to collect and distribute Solid Waste public education products regarding Curbside ordinance, solid waste, recycling, illegal dumping, litter, and municipal waste collection standards to increase social capital and resident compliance to the municipal code.
  2. Facilitate and collaborate with government and nonprofit organizations to encourage Fayetteville resident participation in neighborhood cleanup programs; coordinate special community events to encourage public participation of neighborhood improvements using facilitative leadership and event coordination.
  3. Inspect Curbside in and around the municipality for blight, waste, and non-compliant ordinance issues; ensure compliance, ordinances and regulations; perform follow-up inspections as necessary.
  4. Identify illegal dumpsites, corridor blight, and Curbside issues in, around the municipality; coordinate, and supervise the removal of dumping, blight, and Curbside safety issues.
  5. Collect and display data for route optimization of Solid Waste collections. Perform research to determine the approved conditional uses of property; research owners, tax records and maps and take actions to enforce municipal codes; implement special programs to prevent illegal dumping and suspected criminal activity at illegal dumpsites in the City.
  6. Patrol streets and perform inspections for Curbside issues with Solid Waste; issue notices of violation as necessary.
  7. Participate in a variety of travel within City limits including site inspection and title investigations.

Qualifications

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:
One year of municipal code enforcement or governmental regulatory inspection experience.

Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in, code enforcement, law enforcement, construction technology, or a related field.

LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS:

Required
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license and ability to maintain insurability.

  • SBI/Fingerprinting Criminal History Record Check Requirement To comply with Sessions Law 2025-16, applicants offered a position with the City may be subject to a criminal history record check of State and National Repositories of Criminal Histories conducted by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) in accordance with G.S. 143B-1209.26 The City may consider the results of these criminal history record checks in its hiring decisions.
