The Coatings Industrialization Engineer will be a key contributor in the industrialization, scale-up, and stabilization of coatings manufacturing at the Socomore Rhome facility. This role will drive the transition from development to full-scale production by implementing robust processes, optimizing equipment and workflows, and ensuring compliance with aerospace and military specifications. Working cross-functionally and maintaining a strong hands-on presence on the production floor, the Coatings Industrialization Engineer will establish repeatable, scalable manufacturing capabilities and help position the Rhome facility as a center of excellence for coatings production and industrialization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contributes to the full industrialization lifecycle for coatings at the Socomore Rhome facility, from project scope to
    successful production integration.
  • Supports the planning and leads process execution phases of industrialization for our Aeroglaze / Chemglaze coatings
    product lines. This is a multi-year transformative project and a key opportunity to contribute to the company’s growth.
  • Validates and optimizes new processes; develops SOPs, work instructions, process control documentation (PCD), and
    change notifications to support launch and configuration control.
  • Applies design-for-manufacturability principles to equipment and production workflows for scalability, efficiency, and
    safety.
  • Leads process capability studies, defines critical parameters, and drives continuous improvement in yield, throughput,
    and quality.
  • Applies advanced Design of Experiments (DoE) to equipment and product qualification, ensuring all processes are
    optimized for maximum yield and stability before scale-up.
  • Coordinates with maintenance, production, QHSE, supply chain, and external suppliers/toll manufacturers to deliver
    industrialization milestones.
  • Maintains a constant hands on presence in the manufacturing environment, working directly with production personnel
    to bridge the gap between engineering design and floor-level execution.
  • Leads the training and upskilling of production teams on new equipment and optimized workflows, fostering a culture
    of operational readiness and process adherence.
  • Collaborates with R&D to drive success in pilot operations, and full-scale production.
  • Conducts root-cause analysis of coatings production deviations and implements corrective actions.
  • Prepares documentation, reports, and presentations to communicate progress, risks, and results to leadership,
    stakeholders, and external auditors/regulators as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with all safety standards, environmental requirements, and the Company Code of Conduct.
  • Maintains assigned work areas in a clean, safe condition and promotes a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Travels up to 25% domestically and internationally for training, trials, and technical collaboration.


Required profile

Qualifications Minimum:
● Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or
Mechanical Engineering with applicable coatings experience.
● Strong project leadership skillset.
● 3+ years of experience contributing to process based chemical industrial scale-ups.

Preferred:
● Prior aerospace or military specification (mil-spec) product experience.
● Experience in a small series batch environment.
● Prior experience with large-scale equipment installation, process design, and ERP resource configuration.
● Expertise in designing and executing complex Design of Experiments (DoE) to optimize equipment and product
performance.
● Proven track record of managing the transition phase from successful product qualification into high volume production.
● Experienced in fast paced manufacturing environments, utilizing a hands on approach to mentor and train production
teams.
● Global collaboration or multi-site project management experience.
● Strong CAD experience.
● 3+ years of experience leading process based chemical industrial scale-ups.
● 5+ years of experience with some combination of the coatings chemistries (polyurethanes + epoxies are ideal).

Functional Skills / Knowledge To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential qualification
satisfactorily.
● Ability to lead cross-functional projects from lab trials, through equipment identification / installation, production trials,
work instructions, SOPs, and full production scale-up.
● Provides hands on approach for product qualification testing, production trials, product transition and full production
scale-up.
● Actively engages on the production floor to troubleshoot in real-time and ensure smooth transitions.
● Maintains a strong floor presence by working directly alongside operators to bridge the gap between engineering design
and practical execution.
● Skilled in coaching and upskilling production personnel to ensure seamless adoption of new processes.

● Possesses exceptional technical writing and documentation skills, with ability to translate complex technical
requirements into clear, actionable SOPs, work instructions, and training modules.
● Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple phases of industrialization.
● Knowledge of chemical process equipment, utilities, and production environments.
● Skilled in analyzing data, resolving problems, and driving process improvements.
● Effective leadership, communication, and coaching skills to manage direct reports and cross-functional teams.
● Dedicated and committed safety leadership and presence, including consideration when designing new equipment
installation.
● Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
