Job Description

  • The purpose of the Coating Console Operator is to be responsible for complete control of the oven. Start and stop all motors, fans, exhaust, tenter, pre-tenter, and other equipment pertaining to the operation of the coater.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to adjust speeds and synchronize the speeds of the applicator, pre-tenter, and tenter for proper tensions and speeds.
  • Observe the level of latex in the application area. Control levels for proper applications.
  • Make necessary adjustments of rolls and doctor bars on the applicator to apply latex properly. Make necessary adjustments for style changes.
  • Assume responsibility to have a proper amount of latex applied to give quality products.
  • Co-directs and instructs coater personnel in changes necessary for the correct operation of equipment.
  • Assist in cleaning of applicator rolls and pans each day and also weekend cleaning.
  • Works closely with coater supervisor for proper application and performance of the coater range.
  • Note type application each day.
  • Get cup weight of latex, record, and make adjustments.
  • Advise supervisor of improper performance of the equipment.
  • Observe the pinning of the carpet at the pre-tenter and make necessary adjustments.
  • Keep work area clean.
  • Knowledge of the Mahlo Bow Straightener. Align patterns properly.

Performance Expectations (if applicable):

  • Lifting is required on cups, and buckets weighing approximately 25 lbs. 30 times per shift.
  • Standing is required but varies per shift 4 to 12 hours.
  • Reaching is required for cups, buckets, and tools approximately 40 times per shift.
  • Stooping is required for cups, buckets, and tools approximately 40 times per shift.
  • Bending is required for cups, buckets, and tools approximately 40 times per shift.
  • Must be able to use wrenches.

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be able to read and write and do basic addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
  • Computer knowledge or data entry skills are a necessary part of the job.

Other Requirements:

  • Overtime is required on occasion.
  • All accidents must be reported immediately.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned
  • Safety equipment must be worn as required and requirements must be followed for all areas.
  • Report to management any quality, safety, or potential problems encountered while performing the job.
  • Responsible for quality and safety of his/her own output.
