Coating (AEP) Technician

StandardAero is seeking Coating Technicians responsible for the preparation, application, and heat treatment of Aluminide Electrophoretic Process (AEP) coatings for aircraft components in accordance with approved aerospace processes and safety standards. This role works closely with internal teams to support production requirements while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives using LEAN principles.

What You’ll Do

  • Inspect incoming parts and verify process instructions before processing.
  • Prepare and mix AEP solutions to exact formulas under guidance from Chemical Process Technologist/Engineer.
  • Mask parts for stripping, coating application, and finishing processes.
  • Operate furnaces and coating equipment for AEP.
  • Monitor and control process parameters.
  • Measure and verify coating thickness using precision tools before and after coating application.
  • Clean, maintain, and service AEP tanks, furnaces, blast machines, fixtures, and related equipment.
  • Support design, fabrication, and trial of fixtures used in coating processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the production cell using LEAN tools.
  • Cross-train in complementary skills and support multiple production assignments as required.
  • Assist in training and mentoring other technicians as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures, use required PPE, and report unsafe conditions immediately.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12/Highschool diploma
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada on a permanent basis.
  • Demonstrated experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted for up to 25% of the workday.
  • Willingness and ability to wear required PPE (respirator, gloves, apron, eye protection) for extended periods.
  • Basic computer proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel for documentation and process tracking.
  • WHMIS certification or ability to complete training as required
  • Availability to work early mornings, afternoons, or weekends based on production needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with industrial chemicals (acids, solvents, alkaline solutions) in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures, manuals, and work instructions with high accuracy.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Previous experience in the metal finishing or plating/coating industry.
  • Experience working to aerospace manuals and specifications.
  • Hands-on experience with AEP, plating or other coating types.
  • Exposure to LEAN or continuous improvement practices in a production environment.
