Job Description

Under supervision, participates in all aspects of sheet coating.

Coater operator is an intermediate skill level in the coating of flat sheets. These Coater operators serve as a production operator on the coating equipment & they perform a range of skilled duties coating in the Material center.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the safe, quality operation of all coating equipment on KBA or Wagner line
  • Participates in a variety of intermediate-level skill duties
  • Processes and reviews work orders, material requisitions, reports and other written documentation for this operation
  • Assist in the diagnosing of malfunctioning equipment
  • Assist in the advising management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous/detrimental
  • Follows all safety guidelines and ensures the Company’s safety program is carried out
  • Documents all production, downtime & quality checks in SAP/Infinity/Shoplogix
  • Reports on anomalies to management
  • Journeyman Coater operator on KBA and/or Wagner
  • Ability to run coater (KBA , Wagner, Inghor etc.) & assist (cross train) in running print lines
  • Maintain all duties related to the safe running of the coating lines
  • Assist in maintaining appropriate quality with minimal HFI
  • Assist in maintaining appropriate production levels
  • Assist in maintaining appropriate changeover times
  • Train stacker & floater to fill in in the event of absence, vacation & breaks
  • Perform & document (PC or paper) all required QC checks
  • Assist in maintaining proper condition of line (housekeeping & 5S)
  • Work with stacker, truck driver & Supervisor to ensure all materials are available & staged for next job.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a Manufacturing Environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Understand plant safety guidelines and pass all required safety training
  • Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions
  • Read and interpret layout drawings, TDS/SDS for coatings, properly use shop mathematics, ink/color correction & associated software
  • Proven understanding of mechanical drives / gears / gearboxes / conveyors and general mechanical application in manufacturing systems,
  • Must work well in team environment
  • Ability to work overtime, including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand and talk or hear; and walk or sit. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and smell.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move tools, materials and equipment weighing up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
