Coal Equipment Operator

The Coal Equipment Operator is responsible for assisting the Mechanic-Tractor Operator to operate their assigned equipment in a safe and cost-effective manner while operating their own equipment within allowable parameters. In addition to complying with plant fossil fuel procedures, the Coal Equipment Operator shall inspect his/her equipment so that an inspection is performed at least twice per shift or more if conditions require. Coal Equipment Operators should be always alert and attentive to equipment indications. All alarms should be investigated and the reason for the alarm known by the Coal Equipment Operator. The Coal Equipment Operator will perform a review of routine fossil fuel data and logs to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient equipment operation. They shall also be responsible for maintaining documentation for their equipment. They will perform other duties as assigned to them on their shift. In addition, the Coal Equipment Operator is expected to be proficient and knowledgeable in the following duties.
• Know Conveyor System layout. The location of all gates and belts and how they operate.
• Know how to set up/operate/troubleshoot all Foxboro operating systems.
• Be able to coordinate the normal operation of conveyor system without damaging equipment. Calibration of scales and have a knowledge of any other Coal Flow related Equipment
• Be able to walk down Conveyor/Coal Sampling System and inspect equipment and chutes, add oil or clean chutes and equipment, if necessary (Walk down each shift).
• Be able to trouble shoot any mechanical/hydraulic problem with Conveyor/Coal Sampling Systems.
• Know proper procedures to unload fuel oil trucks.
• Be able to record all appropriate information needed.
• Know the proper procedure for unloading unit trains at the unloading trestle.
• Be able to complete any paperwork involved in unloading trains.
• Pass Plant Job Knowledge written and demonstrated evaluation.
• Be able to execute Plant LOTOs and know and understand GEN 0201.
• Assist in training of Team Members.
• Coordinate all Coal Running Operations with M.T.O. at the trestle.
• Be active in team discussions.
• Be knowledgeable of all Procedures dealing with company policies and Fossil Fuel Operations.
• Improve job skills and job knowledge for next classification, M.T.O.
• Be knowledgeable of and comply with all environmental requirements as stated in Title V. Operating Permit.
• Unload trains by SCH 11520 Coal Train Unloading procedure. • Know and comply with all Company Safety and Compliance Procedures
