Job Description

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The co-op student will work on a collaborative project between CLiPS and the Army Research Lab (ARL) located in Adelphi, Maryland. The project involves designing and creating polymeric materials with high mechanical properties for various application, such as ballistic vest and primary structures for aerospace. The student will work closely with both faculty and staff at the CLiPS to determine work schedules and priorities to satisfy the goals, objectives and deliverables of the project.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist in designing the experimental procedure for the project.
2. Assist in the structural characterization of polymer materials, including atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy.
3. Assist in the materials preparation process, including biaxial rolling process.
4. Assist in the thermal analysis of polymer materials, including dynamic mechanical analysis and differential scanning calorimetry.
5. Assist in the mechanical property measurement.
5. Assist in analyzing experimental results.
6. Communicate weekly with project personnel.
7. Keep accurate records of progress

Qualifications

Current Students with major in related engineering field
