We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Co-op Test Engineer - Mechanical This position reports to Test Engineering Manager and will work in Vancouver, B.C.

**Please note that this position is open to current students enrolled in a Canadian accredited university and co-op program.

Vancouver:

Dometic Marine’s headquarters are in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. The facility develops and manufactures hydraulic, electronic, and combustion-based products.

As Co-op Test Engineer - Mechanical on the Vancouver team, you will be involved in a wide variety of tasks supporting administrative, engineering, and technical staff throughout the facility.

General Responsibilities

  • Prepare test samples
  • Conduct and document multiple tests simultaneously
  • Ensure continuous operation of test benches, and assist in maintaining or modifying as required
  • Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis on test samples and equipment
  • Complete preliminary data analysis
  • Prepare reports on completed and in-progress testing
  • Assist in the selection, installation, and integration of sensors (pressure, force, strain, displacement, etc.)
  • Provide recommendations to improve product testing (processes, methods, analysis, etc)
  • Research and design concept solutions

  • Lots of hands-on opportunities: build prototypes or equipment; test products and components; analyze product performance; disassemble, inspect, and analyze tested components; design and optimize assembly processes and equipment; analyze machining data and develop mechanical and software tools to optimize production

  • Great supervision and mentorship but also get to work independently
  • Supportive engineering and technical staff throughout the facility

  • Often opportunities to do some of the following: design components or equipment with CREO; work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems; use high precision measurement equipment; program PLCs; analyze product performance using data acquisition equipment
  • Experience in mechanical/electrical/software blend for both product design, and manufacturing & machining equipment designing along with its processes
  • Exposure to both worlds of product development and manufacturing processes since we do it all in one facility!

Skills & Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an Engineering program at an accredited university
  • Strong hands-on experience and mechanical aptitude
  • Experience with hand tools and/or shop machinery
  • Solid problem solving and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to manage a variety of tasks
  • Professional demeanor whether in person, via email, or on the telephone
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a strong team
  • Previous experience with CreoWindchill or SolidWorks is an asset
  • General proficiency with MS Office programs including: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, and Teams

Salary Range: $23.50 - $27.50 CAD per hour
