Job Description

Position Summary

The Software Engineering Co-Op will support the development, testing, and debugging of software applications used with advanced RF generator systems and related technologies. This role provides practical experience in software development, hardware integration, and laboratory testing environments.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and maintain software applications using C#, C/C++, and Python.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and debug software interactions with RF amplifiers and related hardware systems.
  • Assist with software verification and validation activities.
  • Work in a laboratory environment utilizing a variety of electronic test equipment.
  • Support hardware and software integration involving Serial, EtherCAT, and Bluetooth communications.
  • Create and maintain software design and support documentation.
  • Contribute to LabVIEW applications and Python scripting projects.
  • Utilize basic hand and power tools to support engineering projects and testing activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Junior or Senior standing participating in a formal co-op program for academic credit.
  • Exposure to C#, C/C++, or Python.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Familiarity with hardware/software integration.
  • Exposure to Serial, Bluetooth, networking, or industrial communications.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment or electronic systems.
  • Knowledge of LabVIEW or automated test environments.

Work Environment

This position includes hands-on interaction with RF generators, amplifiers, and laboratory test equipment in an environment that may include high-voltage and water-cooled systems. Safety procedures and engineering best practices are required at all times.
