We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Co-op Product Designer - Software This position reports to Software Leader and will work in Vancouver, B.C.

**Please note that this position is open to current students enrolled in a Canadian accredited university and co-op program.

Vancouver:

Dometic Marine’s headquarters are in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. The facility develops and manufactures hydraulic, electronic, and combustion-based products.

As Co-op Product Designer - Software on the Vancouver team, you will be involved in a wide variety of tasks supporting administrative, engineering, and technical staff throughout the facility.

General Responsibilities

  • Embedded software and utility software design and programming
  • Develop and execute software unit testing
  • Perform hardware/software integration testing
  • Proof of concept projects on various technologies such as motor control, IoT, and machine learning
  • Perform system level testing in electronic systems with multiple controllers, steering devices, actuators, displays, and CAN bus networks
  • Support development and execution of functional test plans
  • Perform mechatronic design, sensor and motor evaluation, prototype assembly, test and analysis
  • Perform CAN network simulation and testing with CANoe & CANalyzer
  • Test automation design, data analysis, and process improvement with scripting (e.g. Python)
  • Control system setup, troubleshooting, PID tuning and optimization
  • Setup instrumentation on test benches, including use of sensors, controllers, actuator selection, as well as CAPL programming and equipment commissioning
  • Research and design concept solutions

Skills & Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an Engineering program at an accredited university
  • Software design and programming skills in C / C++, especially for embedded systems
  • Familiarity with CAN bus networks and protocols
  • Experience with serial communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, Modbus.
  • Exposure to unit, functional, integration, and automated testing
  • Proficiency with engineering tools including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
  • Experience with electronics, motors and sensors is an asset
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to manage a variety of tasks
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a strong team

Salary range: $23 - $27 CAD per hour
