We are seeking a motivated Co op Electrical Product Designer – Mobile Power Solutions (MPS) to support electronic design, prototype modification, and lab testing activities. This role is well suited for a student who enjoys hands‑on work, is comfortable in a lab environment, and is eager to build practical skills in circuit boards, measurement equipment, and safe laboratory practices, working as a team and independently.

While on‑the‑job training will be provided, prior exposure to PCB modification and electronic testing is strongly preferred.

**Please note that this position is open to current students enrolled in a Canadian accredited university and co-op program.

General Responsibilities

  • Modify and rework PCBAs to support prototype bring‑up, design changes, and troubleshooting
  • Perform electrical testing and validation in the lab using:
  • Support functional testing, debug, and root cause analysis of electronic circuits and assemblies.
  • Assist with schematic development, component selection, and design updates under guidance
  • Execute assigned independent tasks or small design projects as required
  • Document test procedures, setups, results, and findings
  • Work collaboratively with electrical, firmware, mechanical, and test engineers
  • Follow all lab procedures and demonstrate a strong commitment to safe work practices

Skills & Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an Engineering program at an accredited university, preferably in the electrical/electronic, mechatronic, engineering-physics or similar disciplines
  • Exposure to basic electronics and circuit theory
  • Some hands‑on experience with at least one of the following:
  • Willingness to work on‑site in a lab environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety‑critical procedures
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

Preferred (Assets)

  • Experience reading electrical schematics
  • Familiarity with basic PCB design or ECAD tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad)
  • Exposure to power electronics, DC systems, batteries, or motor control (academic or project‑based)
  • Previous co‑op, lab, or technical project experience

Salary range: $22.50 - $26.50 CAD per hour
