CNC Structural Steel Machine Operator

Location: York, PA

Shift: 1st Shift

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire

Pay: Starting at $22.00/hour, with higher pay available depending on experience

Night Differential: $3.00/hour

Position Overview

We are looking for a CNC Machine Operator to work with structural steel beams, columns, channels, and other steel components. This position involves machine setup, material handling, dimensional checks, and operating programmed cutting and coping equipment.

Key Duties

• Prepare and operate CNC machines used for structural steel processing.
• Process beams, columns, channels, and other steel components through coping, cutting, drilling, and programmed operations.
• Review blueprints, shop drawings, and dimensions before and during production.
• Move and position steel materials using overhead cranes and forklifts.
• Check completed parts with tape measures, calipers, squares, and other measuring equipment.
• Change tooling and make basic machine adjustments as needed.
• Troubleshoot basic CNC equipment issues and perform routine machine maintenance.
• Monitor work for accuracy and help maintain production schedules.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
• Follow established safety and quality procedures.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of CNC machine operation experience.
• CNC coping or beam line experience strongly preferred.
• Background in structural steel fabrication preferred.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and structural steel shop drawings.
• Experience with CNC machine setup, tooling changes, and basic troubleshooting.
• Comfortable using tape measures, calipers, squares, and other precision measuring tools.
• Experience working around overhead cranes and forklifts.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality.
