CNC Steel Processing Operator

Location: York, PA
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Shift: 2nd Shift
Starting Pay: $23.00/hour, with higher pay possible based on experience

We are seeking a CNC Steel Processing Operator to operate and maintain CNC equipment used to process structural steel. This position requires experience reading fabrication drawings, handling steel materials, performing measurements, and making machine adjustments.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and set up CNC equipment, including plasma cutters, beam drill lines, and angle lines
• Read shop drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine processing requirements.
• Use overhead cranes and rigging equipment to load and secure beams, plates, and other steel materials.
• Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain accuracy and quality.
• Measure finished work using tape measures, calipers, squares, and other precision tools
• Make basic programming edits for changes in material size or thickness.
• Perform routine CNC maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area while following OSHA and shop safety requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; technical/trade school training preferred.
• 2+ years of CNC machine operation in structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret structural steel shop drawings.
• Experience using precision measuring tools.
• Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
