CNC Steel Equipment Technician
Starting Pay: $24.00/hour (higher based on experience) + $3.00/hour night shift differential
Location: Cocoa, FL
Shift: 1st and 2nd shifts available
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
We are seeking an experienced CNC Steel Equipment Technician to join our production team. This position is responsible for operating CNC steel processing equipment used for cutting, drilling, and fabricating structural steel components while maintaining quality, safety, and production standards.
Candidates should have experience operating one or more types of CNC processing equipment and be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC steel processing equipment
- Select proper machine settings to ensure efficient operation
- Measure materials to verify compliance with specifications
- Select the correct material type, stock size, and dimensions
- Transfer required data and markings onto materials
- Interpret production drawings and work instructions
- Perform detailed part marking and identification
- Maintain accurate records of production and material usage
- Perform routine preventive maintenance
- Assist with troubleshooting machine issues
- Operate overhead cranes and material handling equipment safely
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Regularly lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds
Required Qualifications
- Experience operating a CNC plasma table or performing steel sawing, drilling, or cutting operations
- Experience with one or more of the following equipment:
- Kinetic Plasma Table
- Peddinghaus Saw/Drill Line
- Peddinghaus Angle Master
- Ficep Beamline
- Ability to read a tape measure to within 1/16 inch
- Basic math skills
- Experience operating overhead cranes and material transfer systems
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to work in both hot and cold environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, symbols, and technical notes
- Experience using Tekla PowerFab
