Job Description

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer / CNC Programmer III provides senior‑level technical leadership in CNC machining strategy, process development, and cross‑functional manufacturing initiatives. This role is responsible for complex program development, scalable manufacturing solutions, and high‑level problem resolution. The engineer guides technical standards, mentors junior staff, and contributes to long‑term manufacturing readiness and capability.

Essential Responsibilities

Develop machining strategies for highly complex components requiring multi‑axis machining and tight tolerance control.

  • Develop complete operational routers in ERP systems and mentor other engineers on the process.
  • Lead the development of long‑term tooling platforms, modular fixtures, and scalable machining solutions.
  • Establish CNC programming standards, best practices, and CAM library structures.
  • Manage high‑impact continuous improvement projects affecting throughput, cost, safety, or quality.
  • Support engineering design for manufacturability, providing input on part geometry and tolerance schemes.
  • Serve as a senior resource for resolving complex machining, programming, or quality issues.
  • Maintain expertise in emerging machining technologies, tooling innovations, and digital manufacturing trends.
  • Mentor and train engineers, programmers, and machining operators.

Position Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or 12+ years of equivalent experience.

  • Expert-level proficiency interpreting complex engineering documentation, engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD models.
  • Demonstrated mastery of CNC programming, multi‑axis machining, process optimization, and tooling strategy.
  • Ability to lead cross‑functional problem‑solving efforts and implement corrective actions.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, including participation in design reviews and supplier interactions.
  • Advanced understanding of metrology, CMM programming, and tolerance validation.
  • Advanced statistical capabilities, including SPC and capability analysis.
  • High proficiency with CAD/CAM systems and digital manufacturing workflows.

Desired Requirements:• 8+ years of advanced programming experience across multiple CAD/CAM platforms.

  • Experience developing multi‑stage tooling systems, modular fixtures, and automated setups.
  • Experience with new product introduction or manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification preferred (Green Belt or Black Belt).
  • Experience implementing new machining technologies or equipment upgrades.
