Responsible for the creation and maintenance of all Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) programs for all machine shop equipment. Example equipment: Trumpf sheet lasers, tube lasers and brake equipment, BLM tube laser, bending equipment, Accurpress brake equipment and Amada Laser equipment.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Reviews all new and revised engineering drawings and designs and creates/modifies CNC programs for all CNC equipment to ensure material utilization
- Create, update and distribute all set up sheets (dispatches) along with matching batch (nests) information for the equipment in a timely manner
- Work alongside bargaining unit employees to help develop improved programs based on shop floor needs
- Monitors part designs, tooling requirements, batch sizes and material usage to ensure CNC programs maximize machine efficiency
- Work with Engineering, Purchasing, and Planning departments to initiate process improvements related to CNC programs
- Create prototype and special project parts programs for non-standard work orders
- Create parts programs using TruTops, Radan, Amada, VGPNext, Artube, PartViewer, NX and other equipment specific software
- Control parts program libraries within the Windows operating environments
- Develop new and improved methods to maximize program and machine efficiency
- Produces and modifies programs in accordance with the ISO quality systems program
- Assist in determining future CNC shop floor equipment and office programming software
- Collect and send files, including DXF, STP and IGES to supplier, and vendor site for periodical subcontracting requirements
- Completes special assignments as required
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- High school diploma
- Technical schooling, with experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset
- 3-5 years machining and program experience on sheet lasers, tube lasers, press brake and tube bending
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite, experience with Amada and BLM software (ArTube, PartViewer, etc.).
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
- Travel up to 5% of the time (US included)
- Working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience working as an effective team player.
