As a CNC Operator with Inalfa, you are in the driver’s seat to set up and run CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment, cut precise parts from raw materials like metal and plastic, and operate manual shop equipment such as drill presses, band saws, grinders, and other fabrication tools.

A CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Operator is a manufacturing professional who sets up, operates, and monitors automated machines such as mills, lathes, and routers to shape and cut precise parts from raw materials like metal and plastic. They bridge the gap between design and production by turning blueprints into finished goods

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the Management Systems and to ensure compliance with their requirements.

  • Operate CNC machines safely and efficiently to manufacture parts according to specifications
  • Set up and run CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions
  • Perform tool changes, offsets, and basic machine adjustments
  • Verify part dimensions using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Inspect completed parts to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy
  • Maintain proper documentation for completed jobs and inspections
  • Troubleshoot minor machining or tooling issues and escalate major concerns when needed
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and daily cleaning on machines and shop equipment
  • Operate manual shop equipment such as drill presses, band saws, grinders, and other fabrication tools
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout practices
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and help reduce scrap and downtime
  • Assist with fixture setup, tooling organization, and shop organization as needed

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience operating CNC mills and CNC lathes
  • Experience programming CNC machines using G-code and M-code
  • Experience operating 3-axis CNC machining centers
  • Experience with Hurco WinMax controls or similar CNC control systems preferred
  • Ability to operate manual mills and manual lathes preferred
  • Ability to safely use common shop tools and fabrication equipment
  • Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings
  • Knowledge of machining tolerances and basic GD&T preferred

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferably 3-5 years’ Experience as Fabricator/Die Maker
  • Ability to operate Lathe; saws; mill; grinder; etc.
  • Previous work experience as a Fabricator/Die Maker.
  • AWS certification and advanced welding experience.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering design and manufacturing procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints.
  • Proficiency with metal fabrication tools including shears, rollers, flame cutters, and drill presses.
  • Advanced mathematical and engineering skills.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate large metal objects.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
