POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The CNC Maintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving CNC machining equipment and supporting automated manufacturing systems. This position serves as a key technical resource for ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, maintaining process capability, and supporting quality objectives in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on CNC machining centers, lathes, grinders, and automated production equipment.

· Troubleshoot spindle systems, servo drives, axis faults, tool changers, machine controls, and CNC-related alarms.

· Measure and adjust ball screw backlash, spindle runout, and machine alignment to maintain process capability.

· Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motors, sensors, robotics, and industrial control systems.

· Maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, coolant, filtration, and fluid delivery systems.

· Troubleshoot automated loaders, gantries, conveyors, transfer systems, and robotic work cells.

· Maintain vision systems, barcode readers, sensors, and automated inspection equipment.

· Use CMMS software to document repairs, maintenance activities, and equipment history.

· Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

· Follow all safety requirements including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and machine guarding standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Technical training in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Automation, CNC Technology, or related field.

· Minimum 3 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

· Experience troubleshooting CNC machining equipment.

· Experience measuring ball screw backlash and spindle runout.

· Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.

· Experience with PLCs, VFDs, and industrial control systems.

· Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.

· Experience using precision measurement equipment and CMMS software.

Preferred Qualifications

· 5+ years of CNC maintenance experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

· Experience with industrial robotics and automated production systems.

· Understanding of GD&T and precision machining processes.

· Journeyman certification or equivalent technical credentials.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Required to sit or stand and move about the facility. Occasional lifting of items not to exceed 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Combination of office and plant environment. Will be required to use safety glasses and wear steel toe shoes while performing specific tasks or while in specific manufacturing areas.
