The CNC Machinist will produce machined parts by setting up, and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.
EDUCATION:
Required: High school diploma or GED
Preferred: Associates degree in CNC machining
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 2+ years’ experience in CNC set up and machining. The ideal candidate must have experience with both CNC mills and lathes with a basic understanding of CNC programs. Must have experience in machining with manual mill and lathe as well. Knowledge of basic computer software including Word and Excel.
Preferred: 5+ years’ experience in CNC set up and machining. Experience with a lathe with live tooling is strongly preferred
POSITION REQUIREMENT(S): Specialized Skills/License/Certification
Required:
Knowledge of cutting tools
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
Ability to work overtime as business needs dictate
Knowledge and experience with quality control tools, processes, and systems
Ability to apply basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry concepts that apply to machining
HAAS CNC program adjustments, tool setup, part setup in machine, tool offsets, part offsets
Preferred:
Knowledge of Renishaw probing systems.
Experience in a heavy equipment/industrial manufacturing setting
Demonstrated problem analysis and problem solving skills
CORE COMPETENCIES (Essential Job Functions)
Sets-up mills and lathes by loading tools; loading and indicating vises and fixtures; finding work offsets manually or with electronic probe.
Loads machine by lifting stock into position.
Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting tool compensation; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
