Job Description

As a CNC Machinist, you will produce precision-machined components from raw material through to finished product using CNC turning, milling, and horizontal boring equipment. Your expertise will help ensure components are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards while supporting production schedules and customer expectations.

Working as part of our manufacturing team, you'll use your technical knowledge to interpret engineering drawings, optimise machining processes, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational performance. You'll collaborate closely with colleagues across production and quality to maintain a safe, organised, and productive workplace.

  • Operate CNC turning, milling and horizontal boring machines safely and efficiently.
  • Manufacture precision components from engineering drawings to specified tolerances.
  • Select appropriate tooling and machining methods to maximise efficiency without compromising quality or safety.
  • Plan and prioritise workload to achieve production schedules.
  • Carry out in-process inspection and ensure components meet quality standards.
  • Accurately record production activity and work-in-progress information.
  • Identify and report quality issues and support root cause investigations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and actively support 5S principles.
  • Comply with all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures while participating in daily production meetings and toolbox talks.

Essential

  • Time-served CNC Machinist with a completed engineering apprenticeship or equivalent vocational qualification.
  • Experience producing precision-machined components using CNC turning, milling and/or horizontal boring machines within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Mazak, Doosan or Fanuc-controlled CNC machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacture components to tight tolerances.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, inspection techniques and quality standards.
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Commitment to safe working practices and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred

  • Experience within the Oil & Gas, aerospace, or other precision engineering manufacturing environments.
  • Offline CNC programming experience.
  • Experience operating five-axis CNC machinery.
