About the Role

NOV Subsea Production Systems, is seeking a CNC Operator (Turner) to join our Machine Shop team in Glenrothes.

This role is focused on the manufacture of high-precision subsea and oilfield components using CNC turning centres. You will be responsible for producing components from raw material through to finished product while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and productivity.

Working within a highly skilled manufacturing environment, you will manufacture critical components to the Energy sector which are supplied to customers worldwide.

  • Safely operate CNC Lathes in accordance with company procedures and HSE requirements.
  • Manufacture components to engineering drawings and specified tolerances.
  • Set up, monitor and optimise machining operations to achieve required quality and productivity targets.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, route cards and manufacturing documentation.
  • Accurately record route times and production information.
  • Identify tooling, machining and quality issues and escalate where required.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions relating to quality concerns.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and support 5S initiatives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities aimed at improving safety, quality, delivery and cost performance.
  • Ensure all documentation and manufacturing records are completed accurately and on time.
  • Support overtime and flexible working requirements when required by the business.

Essential

  • Time-served apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience operating CNC turning centres.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Good understanding of machining processes, cutting tools and workholding techniques.
  • Strong commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

  • Experience within the oil and gas, subsea or heavy engineering sectors.
  • Experience machining large components and tight-tolerance work.
  • Experience with Ring grooves,Threads and BX gauges.
  • Knowledge of Fanuc operating Systems
  • Experience of additional machining disciplines such as milling or horizontal boring.
