Job Description

We are hiring skilled CNC Machinists to join our established, ISO-Certified high-mix, low-volume shop precision machine shop. You will work with incredibly unique, large-format machines to manufacture critical parts for top-tier clients in the aerospace, defense (DoD), commercial space exploration, and custom machine building industries. We are not a mass-production house, and this is absolutely not a button-pushing role.

Our machinists own their work end-to-end, from executing complex setups on massive equipment to editing code and performing rigorous final inspections (we can train all this).

If you are a junior machinist looking for a shop that will truly invest in you and grow your skillset day over day, this is the shop for you. If you are a senior machinist looking to come in and move the needle on day one, this shop is for you too.

If you want to truly grow your career in machining with great people, please reach out and let's chat details.

Compensation

  • Junior Machinist: Up to $28 / hr
  • Senior Machinist: Up to $35 / hr
  • 2nd Shift Differential: +$4 / hr

Shift

  • 1st Shift: Monday – Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm
  • 2nd Shift: Monday – Thursday, 2:30pm - 1:00am

Key Responsibilities

  • Set Up & Operate: Independently set up and run large-capacity 3-axis CNC mills (including large format double-column machines, indexable heads, etc.) to machine custom steel plates and heavy weldments.
  • End-to-End Ownership: Run work from raw plate to finished part—setup, run, troubleshoot, inspect, and document.
  • Programming & Editing: Read and interpret complex technical drawings and job travelers. Fluently read G-code and M-code to make critical edits and adjustments directly at the machine controller (FANUC experience is a major plus) to prevent crashes and optimize cuts.
  • Workholding & Rigging: Build effective workholding strategies, including complex magnet setups (mostly ferrous metals, some aluminum). Safely operate forklifts and remote overhead cranes to maneuver heavy plates and massive workpieces.
  • Precision & Quality: Hold tight tolerances ranging from +/- .005 down to +/- .0002, depending on customer specs. Perform rigorous self-inspections at the machine using your own precision manual tools (micrometers, box calipers, slide dial calipers, etc.).
  • Maintenance: Conduct routine machine maintenance, calculate proper speeds and feeds for varied materials, and troubleshoot dimensional or tooling issues on the fly.

Requirements

Qualifications

We are hiring for two primary profiles and will align your level and pay to your demonstrated capability.

Junior CNC Machinist

This profile is ideal for a machinist with strong custom-shop fundamentals who is ready to step up into larger, more complex work.

  • 2+ years of machining experience, specifically in a custom job shop or steel processing environment
  • Ability to run your own setups on 3-axis mills and handle medium-complexity parts.
  • Solid print reading skills and confidence using manual inspection tools to verify your own work.
  • Ability to read G&M code, make basic offsets/edits at the control, and navigate machine variables safely.
  • Must possess your own basic set of machinist tools.

Senior CNC Machinist

This profile is for an elite setup expert who can tackle massive, tight-tolerance, unproven parts that the shop has never seen before

  • 7+ years of advanced job shop experience, ideally with large-format machining (e.g., Doosan, Yama Seiki).
  • Mastery of complex blueprints and advanced GD&T application.
  • Deep fluency in G-code / M-code with the ability to rewrite or heavily edit programs at the controller to save a part or optimize a run.
  • Expertise in calculating speeds and feeds for specialty metals, heavy material removal, and complex workholding (including large magnetic chucks).
  • Bonus Points: Experience with large format precision grinding (Blanchard / Mattison surface grinding) or familiarity operating within an ISO-certified/Aerospace environment.

Benefits

Benefits

  • Health, Dental, and Vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match AND Profit Sharing

About Laborup

Laborup is the #1 AI powered talent platform for America’s industrial workforce. We use AI to create jobs, not take them away. We help HR and plant leaders hire and keep the skilled workers who keep plants running: machinists, welders, maintenance techs, operators, industrial electricians, and engineers. USA Today called us the “LinkedIn for blue collar workers,” and Forbes profiled our work in “How AI Is Solving America’s 1 Trillion Dollar Manufacturing Labor Crisis.”

Today we work with manufacturers from 50 person shops to large public companies with tens of thousands of employees, and the story is the same everywhere. It is hard to find talent, hard to keep good people, and staffing costs keep rising. In a market where filling critical industrial roles can take months and turnover is constant, Laborup helps teams move qualified workers from first contact to on site interview in days instead of weeks and keep them on the floor longer.

Most of the workers our customers need are not on LinkedIn or the usual job boards. Laborup uses AI to find this hidden workforce, call and text them, screen and qualify them, build real profiles, and match them directly to the plants and roles where they can succeed. For workers, that means real, permanent roles at serious manufacturers, not one off gigs. For companies, it is durable infrastructure for hiring and retention at scale in a labor market that will stay tight for years.

We work across nuclear, defense, and advanced manufacturing, as well as sectors like aerospace, automotive, and food production. Teams that use Laborup hire 5 to 10 times faster, see around 3 times better retention, and cut cost per hire by up to 50 to 70 percent. That turns into fewer empty shifts, fewer missed orders, more stable teams, and more capacity without more headache.

We are building the modern talent system for America’s industrial base with a simple long term goal: put a billion industrial workers to work in good jobs that matter.
