We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist with deep technical expertise in CNC milling and/or horizontal boring mills. This role is ideal for a detail-driven professional who takes ownership of setups, machining strategy, and dimensional accuracy.
You will be responsible for machining parts to specification using proven processes, sound judgment, and disciplined execution. Success in this role comes from precision, preparation, and consistency, not rushing.

Key Responsibilities:
CNC Machining & Setup
• Independently set up and operate Fanuc controlled CNC Horizontal Boring Mills and/or lathes
• Plan and execute machining sequences that ensure accuracy, repeatability, and efficiency
• Verify first article accuracy and maintain dimensional control throughout the run
• Adjust offsets and tooling as required to maintain blueprint tolerances
Blueprint & Process Discipline
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and BOMs
• Follow established machining standards while contributing process improvements when appropriate
• Ensure all parts meet dimensional, tolerance, and surface finish requirements
Measurement & Quality
• Consistently and accurately use precision measuring tools including:
o Dial calipers and indicators
o OD/ID micrometers
o Other hand measuring tools as required to record dimensional requirements per blueprint drawing and inspection reports
• Document and verify measurements as required
Equipment Care & Safety
• Perform daily machine startup, cleanup, and routine preventive maintenance
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe shop environment
Team & Flexibility
• Support production needs by operating additional equipment when required
• Communicate clearly with supervisors and teammates regarding job status or concerns
• Demonstrate an employee owner mindset — accountable, dependable, and steady
Requirements
• 5+ years of CNC machining experience (large machining preferred)
• Proven ability to independently set up and run CNC machines
• Strong blueprint reading and tolerance interpretation skills
• Experience machining alloy steels
• High attention to detail with a methodical, process-driven approach
• Forklift and/or overhead crane experience preferred
• G & M code knowledge a plus (training available)

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Occasional lifting of 25–50 lbs
• Pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, and reaching as required
• Steel-toe boots and safety glasses required

Certifications
Alloy Engineering is a certified ASME Code Section I and Section VIII, Division I fabrication shop. Our welders are Certified AWS D1.1 and ASME Section IX. Our staff includes two certified AWS-CWI inspectors, one AWS-SCWI inspector and two AWS-CWS supervisors. Several members of our Quality Assurance Department are also certified in various NDT (nondestructive testing) processes per ASNT SNT TC-1a.
With these certifications, Alloy Engineering can develop all necessary or required weld procedures, depending on the application, to produce the highest quality welded, fabricated product and certify 100% compliance.
