A CNC Machinist I operates a variety of machinery to fabricate component parts to meet close and complex tolerances using tools, including but not limited to, mills, lathes, CNC lathes, vertical and horizontal machines.

Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

  • Safely operates manual and CNC machinery
  • Monitors quantity output and proper operation of mechanical equipment
  • Makes mechanical adjustments to machines and tooling to ensure parts meet quantity and quality requirements
  • Verifies and audits quality utilizing proper measurement and inspection devices.
  • Uses hand tools such as wrenches, air and electric tools.
  • Reads drawings and follows production standards.

Qualifications

The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6+ months experience operating various types of manual or CNC machinery (lathes or mills)
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and work instructions
  • Ability to work in a team or independently
  • Knowledge of advanced machine operation and mechanical knowledge machinery.
  • Ability to effectively use measuring devices, such as calipers, micrometers, angle gauges, and tape measures

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalency test/GED
  • 1+ years experience in machine operation or manufacturing experience

  • This position is in a production environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, moving machinery and trip hazards where personal protective equipment such as head, eye, hearing, and foot protection, including composite toed safety shoes, are required.
  • This position may be exposed to welding, machining, forming, metal surface treatment, laser cutting, plasma cutting, and other metal working and assembly processes.
  • Additional PPE may be required as determined by the environment.
