Job Purpose

  • Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine.

Key Result Area

  • Maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment’s.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, load, examine and modify CNC programs.
  • Set up tools and load materials onto CNC machine.
  • Plans machining by studying drawings, specifications, machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points.
  • Setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches. Calculating requirements and proving part programs.
  • Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three and four jaw chuck, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers. Indicating vices: tramming heads.
  • Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into positions.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces adhering to standards.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chase operations.
  • Taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls, sharpening and replacing worn tools, adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain continuity among works shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

Miscellaneous

  • Ensures compliance to quality, safety & environmental standards as per ISO 9001, 45001.
  1. Qualification and Experience

The candidate should be an

  • ITI/NCTVT fitter course from a recognized institute with around 3- 5 yrs experience in any heavy engineering industry
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM is desirable.
  • Knowledge of SIEMENS / FANUC
  1. Technical Competencies
  • Knowledge on reading drawings
  • Knowledge on CNC programming.
  • Knowledge in using a wide variety of measuring instruments.
