Job Description

The CNC Fitter is responsible for setting up, operating, and supporting CNC machining processes to produce precision components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions. The role requires strong hands-on fitting and machining skills, with responsibility for ensuring accurate dimensions, proper tooling, machine performance, and consistent product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC milling and turning machines according to work instructions, tooling requirements, and production schedules.
  • Perform machine setup, tool selection, workpiece loading, tool changes, and basic tool offset adjustments.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and machining specifications.
  • Perform fitting, deburring, adjustment, and finishing of machined components to achieve required specifications.
  • Measure and inspect components using vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Verify dimensional accuracy, tolerances, and surface finish before releasing parts for the next process.
  • Identify and troubleshoot basic machining issues such as dimensional variation, tool wear, poor surface finish, and machine abnormalities.
  • Monitor tooling condition and replace or report worn/damaged cutting tools as required.
  • Perform routine machine checks, basic preventive maintenance, and housekeeping.
  • Work closely with Supervisors, CNC Programmers, Engineers, and Quality Inspectors to resolve machining and fitting issues.
  • Follow engineering drawings, SOPs, work instructions, quality requirements, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain good 5S standards and ensure the work area, machines, tools, and equipment are clean and organized.
  • Support production targets and other machining/fitting activities as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum SPM or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Preferably 1–3 years of hands-on CNC machining/fitting experience.
  • Experience operating CNC milling and/or CNC turning machines.
  • Able to perform basic CNC machine setup and tooling changes.
  • Able to read and understand engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and basic GD&T.
  • Proficient in using vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Basic knowledge of cutting tools, tooling selection, tool wear, and machining processes.
  • Good understanding of basic CNC machine controls and operating procedures.
  • Able to perform basic fitting activities such as deburring, filing, adjustment, and component finishing.
  • Good mechanical aptitude, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to dimensional accuracy and product quality.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a production team.
  • Willing to work shifts and overtime when required.

About Ichor Systems, Inc.

We are a leader in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of critical fluid delivery subsystems and components for semiconductor capital equipment. Our product offerings include gas and chemical delivery systems and subsystems, collectively known as fluid delivery systems and subsystems, which are key elements of the process tools used in the manufacturing of semiconductor devices. Our gas delivery subsystems deliver, monitor, and control precise quantities of the specialized gases used in semiconductor manufacturing processes such as etch and deposition. Our chemical delivery systems and subsystems precisely blend and dispense the reactive liquid chemistries used in semiconductor manufacturing processes such as chemical-mechanical planarization, electroplating, and cleaning. We also provide precision-machined components, weldments, e‑beam and laser-welded components, precision vacuum and hydrogen brazing and surface treatment technologies, and other proprietary products. This vertically integrated portion of our business is primarily focused on metal and plastic parts that are used in gas and chemical systems, respectively.

We are strategically located to provide the highest level of customer service and support from our program management, sales, engineering, and executive management teams. Ichor is headquartered in Fremont, California, and we have production facilities in California, Oregon, Texas, Nevada, Minnesota, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Mexico, and the UK, staffed by our 2000+ team members.
