The CNC 5 Axis Milling Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating CNC 5-axis mills, high speed 5-axis routers, and/or lathes to produce high-quality machined components in an AS9100 manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of independently performing complex machining operations while maintaining quality, accuracy, and production standards. This role requires strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, blueprint interpretation, tooling, inspection methods, and the ability to troubleshoot and support continuous improvement efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines to produce parts using work orders, blueprints, materials, and specifications.
  • Interpret job instructions including CNC programs, setup sheets, tool lists, job routings, part drawings, and in-process quality instructions.
  • Select appropriate tool holders, cutting tools, and fixtures and properly load them into the machine.
  • Load CNC programs into machine controls, including establishing zero and reference points and entering tool lengths and offsets.
  • Ensure proper lubrication and cooling of work pieces during machining operations.
  • Perform machine setups and inspect completed parts to verify accuracy and quality requirements.
  • Complete first article machining runs and make necessary offsets or collaborate with programming teams on modifications based on inspection results.
  • Provide recommendations to improve productivity, equipment utilization, tooling, and machining processes.
  • Perform equipment preventative maintenance activities and maintain documentation of completed actions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow Hera safety protocols and OSHA/Cal OSHA safety regulations.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • Five (5) years of experience operating 3–5 axis HAAS mills, DMS, BIESSE, and/or Thermwood routers.
  • Experience working in an AS9100 manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of various cutting tools, tooling applications, and machining processes.
  • Knowledge of CNC HAAS, Fanuc, and SIEMENS controls.
  • Ability to interpret work orders, manufacturing instructions, and production documentation.
  • Strong shop math skills.
  • Ability to use standard measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, and other inspection equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience machining composites, honeycomb, plastics, and metallic materials using 3–5 axis equipment.
  • Experience machining composites using dry machining processes and metallic materials with coolant.
  • Experience operating conventional mills, lathes, and hand tools.
  • Ability to fabricate and modify fixtures.
  • Experience supporting process improvements and troubleshooting machining issues.

Additional Requirements

    • Must have professional working proficiency reading, writing, and speaking English
    • Ability to work in office, lab, and manufacturing environments with occasional exposure to noise, chemicals, dust, industrial equipment, and temperature variations
    • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer workstation
    • Frequent use of hands and fingers for data entry, keyboarding, and mouse use
    • Ability to view computer screens for prolonged periods
    • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and via email
    • Ability to use a computer to complete assignments 
  • Type Full Time – Non - Exempt
  • Hours: 2nd Shift – 02:30 PM – 10:30 PM – Monday through Friday Schedule and overtime may vary based on business needs
  • Base Salary Range: $24 - $29 per hour DOE Base
  • Location: Ontario, CA - 100% onsite .

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
