CNA/LST Unit Captain

NeuLife Rehabilitation of Florida is a leading post-acute rehabilitation and residential care provider specializing in individualized care for individuals with traumatic brain injuries (TBI), spinal cord injuries, and complex neurological conditions. Position Summary

NeuLife Rehabilitation is seeking a CNA/LST Unit Captain to provide leadership, mentorship, and support to our Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA/LST)team.

The CNA/LST Unit Captain helps oversee day-to-day team operations, supports staff development, promotes high standards of patient care and safety, and serves as a positive role model for direct-care staff. This position works closely with the CNA/LST Manager and nursing leadership to ensure consistent, patient-centered care.

The ideal candidate is an experienced CNA who demonstrates strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills and is passionate about helping individuals achieve meaningful rehabilitation outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Supervision

• Oversee the daily operations of the CNA/LST team, including staffing, scheduling, attendance, performance, and accountability.
• Serve as a resource and role model for CNAs and LSTs on the floor.
• Promote teamwork, professionalism, and a positive work environment.
• Assist with addressing staffing challenges and operational concerns.

Staff Development & Training

• Provide floor orientation and training for new CNA/LST team members.
• Coach and mentor staff to promote professional growth and quality care.
• Reinforce organizational policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Identify training needs and communicate opportunities for improvement to leadership.

Quality & Safety

• Monitor the delivery of patient care to ensure established standards are followed.
• Validate appropriate documentation and reporting.
• Promote compliance with clinical, safety, infection-control, and facility protocols.
• Identify and promptly communicate concerns regarding patient safety or quality of care.

Patient Care Support

• Provide hands-on support with patient care as needed.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), personal care, mobility, and other patient support needs.
• Observe patients for changes in condition or behavior and promptly report concerns to the appropriate nursing staff.
• Help ensure patients receive respectful, compassionate, individualized care.

Communication & Collaboration

• Collaborate with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated patient care.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and staff.
• Help resolve workplace and patient-care concerns in a professional and proactive manner.
• Promote a culture of respect, accountability, and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required in the State of Florida.
• Previous leadership, charge, lead, or supervisory experience in healthcare, rehabilitation, long-term care, or a related setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to effectively mentor, coach, and support direct-care staff.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
• Compassionate, patient-focused approach to care.

Compensation & Benefits

Starting Pay: $21.00 per hour
