CMAM Nurse, Global Health

Program Summary: Project HOPE is providing humanitarian assistance to internally displaced and conflict-affected persons throughout the Gaza Strip, Occupied Palestinian Territory. The portfolio in the Gaza Strip focuses on Health, Mental Health, Protection, and WASH programming in partnership with local NGOs. Our activities include the operation of several primary and sexual reproductive health clinics operated by local Project HOPE staff. 1. The CMAM Nurse is responsible for the routine delivery of Community-Based Management of Acute Malnutrition services at the assigned clinic while serving as the clinic Nutrition Focal Point. The position ensures that all nutrition services are delivered safely, accurately, and in accordance with national protocols, organizational procedures, and donor requirements. 2. Principal Responsibilities: CMAM Service Delivery •Conduct nutritional and clinical assessments of children referred to CMAM services, including MUAC, weight, length or height, bilateral pitting oedema, appetite, clinical condition, and relevant history. •Apply approved admission, treatment, follow-up, referral, transfer, and discharge criteria and ensure that all decisions are documented correctly. •Conduct appetite testing and provide routine medicines and therapeutic nutrition products according to approved protocols and professional scope of practice. •Monitor treatment progress, attendance, weight gain, MUAC changes, clinical condition, and response to treatment. •Identify and follow up absentees, defaulters, non-responders, long-stay cases, and beneficiaries requiringadditional medical, nutrition, or social support. •Identify children with danger signs or medical complications and arrange immediate clinical review or referral. •Provide caregivers with clear information on treatment, product use, feeding, hygiene, danger signs, and follow-up appointments. •Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential beneficiary files, registers, follow-up cards, and referral records. Clinic Nutrition Focal-Point Functions •Coordinate the daily implementation of CMAM, IYCF, nutrition screening, growth monitoring, supplementary feeding, preventive nutrition, and other approved activities at the clinic. •Organize beneficiary flow and daily nutrition-team responsibilities in coordination with the Clinic Focal Point and Nutrition Officer. •Serve as the main clinic contact for nutrition-related technical and operational matters and communicate significant issues promptly to the Nutrition Officer. •Promote integration and referral between nutrition, medical, nursing, maternal health, protection, WASH, mental health, disability, and community services. •Provide technical guidance and on-the-job coaching to the relevant clinic staff. •Monitor compliance with nutrition protocols, service standards, confidentiality, infection-prevention procedures, and safe beneficiary flow. •Identify technical, operational, staffing, data, supply, and quality gaps and support implementation of agreed corrective actions. •Participate in clinic meetings, supportive supervision, monitoring visits, assessments, audits, partner visits, and programme reviews. Reporting, Quality, and Commodities •Review and validate daily, weekly, and monthly clinic nutrition data before submission. •Monitor key CMAM indicators, including admissions, cure, default, death, non-response, transfers, length of stay, and referral completion. •Ensure consistency between beneficiary files, registers, distribution records, stock records, and electronic reporting systems. •Monitor the availability, consumption, storage, batch numbers, and expiry dates of therapeutic nutrition products, routine medicines, equipment, and programme tools. •Report data discrepancies, commodity losses, damaged supplies, or potential stock-outs immediately and support stock counts and data-quality reviews. Perform any other duties as assigned, based on team needs and operational requirements. 3. Key Performance Expectations • CMAM services are delivered in accordance with approved protocols and professional standards. • Clinic reports and beneficiary records are accurate, complete, and submitted on time. •High-risk, absent, and non-responding beneficiaries are identified and followed up appropriately. •Nutrition activities at the clinic are coordinated and integrated with relevant services. •Commodity and equipment needs are monitored, and avoidable stock interruptions are promptly escalated. 4. Minimum Qualification: •Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, Nursing, Midwifery, Public Health, or a related field. •At least two years of relevant experience, including practical CMAM, pediatric nutrition, or humanitarian health experience. •Previous experience as a clinic focal point, senior nurse, or technical lead is preferred. •Strong knowledge of CMAM protocols, anthropometry, clinical referral, IYCF, and nutrition programme indicators. •Good reporting and computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and electronic data systems. •Fluency in Arabic; English proficiency is required 5.
