Job Description

The clinical staff (CMA, General Clinic RMA, or LPN I) are multi-skilled health professionals who work interdependently with other healthcare professionals to provide quality healthcare to the patient. They are trained to perform both administrative and clinical skills. The goal of the clinical staff is to optimize outcomes and improve the quality of life for patients through efficient, cost-effective care.

  1. Helps patients by providing information, services, and assistance.
  2. Maintains medical supplies inventory and performing preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating.
  3. Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit.
  4. Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; and reporting patient history summary.
  5. Saves doctors’ time by helping with office procedures.
  6. Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; and keeping patient information confidential.
  7. Counsels patients by transmitting physician orders and questions about surgery.
  8. Schedules surgeries by making arrangements with the surgical center; verifying times with patients; and preparing charts and pre-admission and consent forms.
  9. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  10. Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipts.
  11. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
  12. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
  13. Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements.
  14. Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  15. Carries out clinical duties as outlined in specific job description for CMA, RMA, CST, LPN, or RN, as applicable.

Requirements

  1. Graduation from an accredited medical assisting, surgical technology or practical nursing program
  2. Current certification or licensure with no restrictions
  3. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  4. Knowledge of infection control, sterile technique and basic health and safety precautions applicable for work in a clinic setting
  5. Use and apply medical terminology appropriately
  6. Thorough knowledge of general clinical principles, methodology and measures for outcomes
  7. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner at all times

About Pinehurst Surgical Clinic

In 1946, physicians Clement R. Monroe, Michael T. Pishko and William F. Hollister opened the first Pinehurst Surgical multi-speciality clinic within the walls of Moore Regional Hospital. In 1957, the group added a new physician, Duwayne D. Gadd, M.D. and together established a separate location for the clinic. Our Pinehurst, NC surgical center was founded on the concept of teamwork and a true dedication to delivering quality patient care.
