Supplier Quality & Development Subject Matter Expert is responsible for leading a developing new innovative ideas and solutions at supply base with Engineering based on GBE’s targets aligned with Quality and Procurement organization goals ensuring that our suppliers meet our quality and delivery performance standards for APQP and PPAP requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Owns development projects and executes at supply base for successful SOP deployment via APQP and ready for PPAP validation.
 Uses niche skills to bring new innovative solutions and ideas deployed into supply base.
 Support development and drive consistent implementation of a new business framework to foster supplier innovation.
 Support legal framework for Innovation projects, including Non-Disclosure Agreements, Technology Collaboration Agreements and other development agreements.
 Holistically assess benefits of new external manufacturing technologies in terms of performance/quality/reliability and cost/investment together with Component COEs, Product Lines, Should Cost and Commodity teams.
 Support implementation of new Core vs. Non-Core and economics-driven Make vs. Buy decision making processes

• Deploy strategy to generate & protect IP for key external manufacturing processes (e.g. develop foreground IP, patented design features, trade secrets with suppliers, etc. )
 Support supplier-scouting for new technologies and creation of preliminary panel, including support for related Terms Conditions.
 Deliver a Talent Strategy to Develop Expertise in Key Differentiating Processes in the Supply Base and Process Engineering. • Develop and mature a robust closed loop process and MOS for enhanced Product | Component | Process Design Optimization and to translate resulting tech requirements for suppliers
 Together with the SQ&D organization and the Materials COE drive new external manufacturing process development | risk identification | management | qualification | deployment.

• Rigorously deploy new supplier process capability assessment and limit sample testing in support of new PEP and Risk Mgmt MOS
 Support SQ&D with enhanced-guidance issue-resolution as Subject Matter Expert (SME)
 Support Common-Supplier-Assessment activities to evaluate supplier cross-functional capabilities.
 Define key performance metrics for the Supplier Innovation team and provide monthly progress reports.
 Engage Leadership through Technology Council | PAC | Ops/Growth Days
 Together with MCOE leader, jointly drive the Innovation PAC
 Implement robust annual Supplier (Component & Equipment) Technology Road mapping Process synchronized & shared with Product Line, Component COE, and AME technology roadmaps, as well as fully aligned with the needs of the different Supply Base Commodities

• Conduct continuous external disruptive technology scouting & benchmarking.
 Foster partnership with Labs, Academia, and x-SBG Experts Network
 Provide required M&A pipeline support.
 Supports actively Should Cost assessment with regular updates and further challenging based on benchmarking.

Qualifications Required:

 Work experience in a matrix environment is a plus.
 IATF16949 internal auditor certification
 2nd party VDA 6.3 audit certification and actual practice
 Fluent spoken and written English – knowledge of a second language is a plus.
 Good supplier management skills
 Individual Contributor.

• Experience & Education requirement:
 12+ yrs Experience
 Experience on independently problem solving a logical and methodical approach, excellence understanding of quality tools and process (8D, 5Why, Cause/Effect Diagram)
 Degree in Mechanical Engineering and significant work experience
 Technical background in automotive, Knowledge in Quality system & Process Auditing, preferably based on VDA 6.3
 Manufacturing plant and Production process experience. Hands on experience on casting and machining Processes(Simulation in Procast/Magma and GOM scanning).
 Supplier Quality experience required.
 Experience on practice of quality tools such as AIAG - APQP, PPAP, MSA, D&PFMEA, DOE, ISO, IATF-16949…
 Ability to understand drawings and technical specifications.
 Good experience on at least one related commodity process, such as casting, machining, stamping, welding
 Six Sigma experience – Lean Expert or Black Belt is a plus.
