Job Description

Do you love kids? Dream of a job surrounded by energetic, smiling faces? Then we have the perfect part-time job for you! The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis is seeking to hire Youth Development Professionals.

The Youth Development Professional plans and implements structured educational, social, and recreational programs and activities for young people between the ages of 5 - 18.

This is a part-time position.

Normal working hours but many vary:

2:00pm until 6:00pm/ up to 29.5 hours per week

Requirements

Staff member must be able to work with children ages 5 to 18. Needs to have knowledge with basic computer and technological skills. Able to assist with homework. Have sufficient knowledge with grade level reading, math, and science. Staff should be prepared to move around the classroom, observing students' progress and being able to assist if needed. Also needs to have classroom management and conflict resolution skills.

Additional knowledge with arts & crafts, visual arts, physical fitness, and STEM would be a plus.

Since 1962, the Club has provided positive educational, recreational, leadership, and sports programming for youth via quality after-school programs, a summer camp, and additional afternoon programming during the summer for all members. These programs and services are designed to build character and strengthen life skills, resulting in a healthy and safer community. Our Clubs are staffed by paid, highly trained youth development professionals. Through a system of informal guidance, Club staff form strong bonds with young people and help them make smart choices in life. For many Club members, Club staff members are the most influential positive adult role models in their lives. The Club’s programs foster a sense of belonging, and competence that builds self-confidence and self-esteem.
