About Rocket Padel

Rocket Padel is a dynamic and rapidly expanding business focused on creating a vibrant, inclusive and social sporting community. Our clubs bring together high-quality padel facilities, hospitality and fitness, creating welcoming places for people to play, connect and spend time together.

Rocket Padel Beckton offers padel courts, a restaurant and bar, a pro shop, The Lab gym, co-working facilities and The Recovery Room.

With new clubs planned in East Croydon and West London W12, this is an exciting time to join the business and grow with us.

Your Mission at Rocket Padel

We’re looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic person to join our Beckton team in a varied role combining kitchen duties with club hosting and customer service.

You’ll help prepare and serve food, welcome players and visitors, and support the smooth day-to-day running of the club. We welcome applications from kitchen assistants looking to develop their skills, as well as experienced cooks or chefs who enjoy customer-facing work.

Shifts may combine kitchen and club hosting duties, while some may be solely as a Club Host. The right candidate should therefore be interested in both areas. Being comfortable working across both roles will open up more opportunities for shifts and additional hours, depending on the needs of the club.

Key Responsibilities:

Kitchen Operations

  • Prepare, cook and serve food from our club menu, with responsibilities matched to your experience and training.
  • Ensure food is served promptly and meets our standards for quality and presentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organised kitchen, including washing up, equipment cleaning and opening or closing duties.
  • Support stock checks, deliveries, ordering and stock rotation, helping to minimise waste.
  • Work with management to contribute ideas for menu improvements and seasonal dishes.
  • Check kitchen equipment and report faults or maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Support catering for tournaments, corporate bookings and private events.
  • Where appropriate to your experience, help train and support colleagues with food preparation and kitchen procedures.

Club Hosting & Front of House

  • Welcome players and visitors, creating a friendly and professional first impression.
  • Support reception, bookings, check-ins and customer enquiries.
  • Take food and drink orders, serve customers and process payments.
  • Help customers with equipment hire, retail purchases and general club information.
  • Keep reception, dining and shared customer areas clean, tidy and presentable.
  • Work closely with colleagues to coordinate kitchen and front-of-house service.
  • Respond professionally to customer feedback and refer concerns to the duty manager when needed.
  • Assist with event setup, delivery and clearing down.
  • Promote relevant club activities, services and products to customers.

Safety and Compliance:

Safety and compliance are always top priorities. You will follow company policies and procedures, including Health & Safety, Food Safety and Hygiene, COSHH, allergen awareness and safe working practices.

You will also follow the club’s safeguarding procedures and report any concerns promptly to the appropriate manager or Welfare Officer.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience in a kitchen, café, restaurant or hospitality environment.
  • An interest in both food preparation and customer-facing club hosting.
  • A friendly manner and strong communication skills.
  • Good organisation, reliability and attention to cleanliness.
  • The ability to work calmly during busy periods and support colleagues.
  • An understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling.
  • A flexible approach to duties and willingness to learn.

Preferred:

  • Previous cooking or chef experience.
  • A relevant food hygiene or catering qualification.
  • Experience in reception, customer service, bar or café operations.
  • An interest in padel, sport, fitness or hospitality.

Working Conditions:

  • Flexible, part-time hours, with availability and shift patterns discussed at interview.
  • Shifts may include daytime, evening, weekend and bank holiday work.
  • Some shifts will involve both kitchen and club hosting duties; others may be solely as a Club Host.
  • The balance of responsibilities will reflect your skills, training and the operational needs of the club.

What We Offer

  • On-the-job training across kitchen operations and club hosting.
  • A supportive team and a lively working environment.
  • A varied role with opportunities to develop new skills.
  • Potential for additional shifts through working across both areas.
  • Opportunities to take on greater responsibility as your experience develops.

Opportunities for Career Growth and Development:

Rocket Padel is continuing to expand, with new clubs planned in East Croydon and West London W12. For the right applicant, our growth could create future opportunities in hospitality, kitchen operations or club management, including at these new locations.

Progression will depend on your performance, interests and the roles available.

Equal Opportunity Employer

Rocket Padel is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and value the different experiences and perspectives they bring to our team.

If you enjoy preparing food, meeting people and being part of a busy sports community, we would love to hear from you. Please apply with your CV and a short introduction outlining your experience and availability.
