Summary

JOB OBJECTIVE: This is a temporary staff position that provides facilitation and administrative support for the Mayor’s Youth Council (MYC), a leadership and civic engagement program for Little Rock high school students in grades 10 through 12. The position works with City staff and youth leaders to facilitate monthly meetings, coordinate program activities, assist with student-led projects, and manage related administrative functions. Creates an engaging and inclusive environment that promotes youth leadership, civic knowledge, collaboration, and community problem-solving.

This position is not designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is not subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

Qualifications

The position requires experience working with youth in an educational, leadership development, community engagement, or similar setting. The successful candidate should have experience facilitating group discussions or activities and the ability to communicate effectively with high school students, families, City staff, and community partners.

Experience with youth leadership programs, civic engagement, local government, community programming, or project coordination is preferred.

Assignment Expectations

The Mayor’s Youth Council meets monthly during the program year. This position will provide meeting facilitation, preparation, communication, and administrative support for approximately six hours per month.

The primary program period is September through April, with a closing session or culminating event anticipated in May.

This is a temporary assignment and does not create an expectation of continued employment beyond the approved program period.
