Job Description


The Cloud Security Engineer is responsible for securing and monitoring the organization’s cloud and SaaS environments with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure and enterprise SaaS platforms. This role designs, implements, and operates security controls that protect cloud infrastructure, identities, applications, and data.

The engineer works closely with security operations, cloud engineering, and application teams to ensure SaaS and Azure environments are continuously monitored for threats, misconfigurations, and policy violations.

This position emphasizes SaaS security monitoring, Azure cloud security, identity integration, and monitoring, with limited interaction with AWS environments.

Primary Responsibilities:

Cloud Security Engineering
• Design, implement, and maintain security controls within Microsoft Azure environments
• Monitor Azure resources for misconfigurations, vulnerabilities, and suspicious activity
• Implement and manage Azure security services such as Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), and Microsoft Sentinel
• Configure Conditional Access, identity protections, and privileged access controls

SaaS Security Monitoring:
• Monitor and secure enterprise SaaS platforms including identity providers, productivity platforms, and security tools
• Implement and maintain SaaS monitoring solutions such as Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps and identity security platforms
• Identify risky SaaS behaviors including data exfiltration, excessive permissions, and anomalous access patterns
• Develop alerting and response workflows for SaaS security events

Security Monitoring and Threat Detection
• Monitor cloud telemetry, identity logs, and SaaS application activity for potential threats
• Develop detection capabilities for suspicious behavior across cloud and SaaS platforms
• Support incident response investigations involving cloud or SaaS activity
• Integrate cloud and SaaS telemetry into centralized security monitoring platforms

Cloud Security Posture Management:
• Maintain visibility into Azure configuration and compliance posture
• Identify and remediate security misconfigurations in cloud infrastructure
• Support vulnerability management efforts across Azure workloads
• Collaborate with engineering teams to implement secure cloud architectures

Automation and Integration:
• Develop automation to improve monitoring, alerting, and remediation of cloud security issues
• Integrate cloud security tooling with SIEM, SOAR, and ticketing platforms
• Develop scripts or workflows to support cloud security operations

Required Qualifications:

• 3 to 6 years of experience in cloud security, cloud engineering, or security operations
• Strong experience securing Microsoft Azure environments
• Experience monitoring and securing enterprise SaaS platforms
• Knowledge of identity and access management concepts including SSO, MFA, and Conditional Access
• Experience with cloud monitoring, logging, and alerting platforms
• Understanding of security frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS Benchmarks, or ISO 27001

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Defender for Cloud Apps, or Microsoft Sentinel
• Experience with endpoint detection and response platforms such as CrowdStrike
• Experience securing SaaS integrations and APIs
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code security practices
• Exposure to AWS environments is a plus but not required
• Security certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or Microsoft Azure Security Engineer (AZ-500)
