We are seeking a seasoned SRE with a passion for cloud economics. Sitting at the intersection of Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, and Finance, you will use your deep observability skills to instrument, analyze, and optimize our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) spend. Your goal is to balance system reliability with cost-efficiency, empowering product teams to build cost-aware, performant architectures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cost Observability & Telemetry: Design and implement robust cost telemetry using Google Cloud Billing export data, BigQuery, and Looker dashboards. Treat "cost" as a first-class system metric.
• SLO-Aligned Cost Efficiency: Define Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) that balance performance with expenditure. Ensure over-provisioning isn't masking as reliability.
• Anomaly Detection & Alerting: Build alerting pipelines for cost spikes and resource anomalies in Cloud Monitoring. Correlate sudden infrastructure spend with application logs, traces, and deployment events to identify the root cause of budget overruns.
• Architecture Rightsizing: Partner with engineering squads to right-size compute resources (e.g., Compute Engine VMs, Google Kubernetes Engine clusters) based on historical utilization and metrics.
• Automated Governance: Leverage infrastructure as IaC to enforce FinOps policies and quotas. Develop auto-remediation scripts for orphaned resources, idle environments, and unmanaged workloads.

Core Requirements:

• GCP Expertise: 3+ years of hands-on SRE or DevOps experience within Google Cloud Platform.
• Observability Mastery: Advanced proficiency with telemetry stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog, with an emphasis on extracting actionable usage metrics from distributed systems.
• Data Querying: Strong SQL skills for analyzing complex cloud billing datasets in BigQuery.
• Cost Allocation & Showback: Experience mapping complex microservices architectures and K8s namespaces to specific cost centers, projects, and labels.

• India – (Flexible hybrid work model - work from Bangalore office for 20 days in a quarter)
