As our Senior Cloud Engineer, you will play a vital role in modernising the cloud platform that powers OMRON Connect, helping us build a more reliable, scalable and future-proof foundation for millions of users worldwide.

OMRON Connect connects OMRON health devices with users in nearly every country worldwide, with an AWS backend serving several million monthly active users. Much of the platform was built by external agencies and still carries legacy: manual infrastructure, scattered knowledge, inconsistent observability and release processes that make adjustments slower and chancier.

The direction is clear: Infrastructure as Code, cloud-native and event-driven architecture where it adds value, safe continuous deployment, observability by default and teams that can ship independently. We are now bringing more senior engineering capability in-house and need someone to turn that ambition into concrete technical decisions, shared standards and a roadmap that teams can own. This is where you come in ;)

Your role

You will work across the Connect engineering teams, helping them make the right technical choices while modernising a live healthcare platform. This isn’t a greenfield architecture exercise. You will need to improve the foundations without disrupting a platform used by millions, and balance technical improvements with product delivery, regulatory requirements and the realities of working across the Netherlands and Japan.

You are going to lead through influence rather than hierarchy. That means creating clarity, facilitating difficult discussions, making decisions when consensus doesn’t come, and helping engineers grow into greater ownership of their systems. You may have a home base in one team, but your scope reaches across all of them. That’s why stakeholdermanagement and -alignment are key elements in this position.

What you will be doing, among others:

• Own and evolve the Cloud & Backend roadmap, translating the engineering vision into clear priorities, trade-offs and next steps.
• Drive cross-team architecture decisions to a close, making sure decisions are transparent, documented and followed through.
• Establish shared technical standards and guardrails that allow teams to work autonomously without creating unnecessary dependencies.
• Work hands-on with engineers on AWS and Terraform, reviewing designs and pull requests and challenging technical choices where needed.
• Coach and pair with engineers, helping knowledge spread across teams and supporting the growth of seniority and ownership.
• Work with product owners, QA, engineering leadership and colleagues in Japan to balance technical direction with product, regulatory, security and cost considerations.
• Help move the platform towards automated infrastructure, safer deployments and stronger observability without relying on a big-bang rewrite.

• Salary: A range of €87.900,- / €93.600,- gross per year is stated for this position (based on 32 hours per week – that’s full-time at Luscii).

You know when to step up, when to involve colleagues and when to move forward decisively. Working independently does not mean working in isolation for you. You feel at ease being both a self-starter and a committed team player, contributing to shared goals while taking responsibility for your own domain. You value open communication, transparency, and mutual trust.

• You have at least 6+ years of experience in cloud/backend engineering, including at least 2 years in a technical leadership role (tech lead, staff or principal engineer) where you aligned multiple people or teams around technical direction and decisions.
• You have hands-on experience with AWS and Terraform (Infrastructure as Code) and are comfortable reviewing designs and pull requests. Experience with serverless and event-driven architectures is very valuable. All combined with experience in serverless AWS, Node.js/TypeScript tech stacks.
• You can translate technical choices into clear trade-offs for engineers, product owners, QA and other stakeholders, and get decisions to stick without relying on formal authority.
• You actively coach, pair, review and share knowledge, with a focus on building ownership and seniority across the teams around you.
• You understand what matters: the importance of making pragmatic technical choices within clear security, compliance and regulatory boundaries.
• You are open to working in a Holacratic organization and curious about our way of organizing work, roles, and responsibilities;
• English is our primary language for all internal communication at Luscii, so you're fluent in that language.

What does the recruitment process look like?
